Family Tree

The family tree is collaborative. Famconnections encourages all people in the family to build out their immediate family trees, invite other family members and contribute photos, videos and memories to the family tree. My Tree is your personal view of your family tree. Reunion Trees are family tree views that are specific to a family group.

My Tree

  • When you register on famconnections.com, you automatically get a “My Tree”.

  • Select “My Tree” to start adding people to your family tree.

  • If you have been invited to connect to another person’s tree (and you are not already in the same family group), you will see an invitation and when you select it to view, you will see your node and the relationship to the tree that you have been invited to.

    • You must accept the invitation to the family tree in order to connect to that person's tree.

  • If you are in the same family group with someone and they have added you to their tree, you will see all the connections in “My Tree” and be able to edit them if desired.

Adding Nodes to the family tree

  • The first time that you go to “My Tree” you will be encouraged to add immediate family members.

  • You can choose an existing family connection in the autofill or you can type the details of the person that you want to add.

  • If you add an email to the node, that person will be invited to join your tree. They will receive an invitation. You will also be asked to add them to a family group, if they are not already in a shared family group.

Reunion Family Trees

  • Reunion Trees are views of the family tree that are created for family reunions. You can select a home person for a reunion tree that locks the view in a descendant tree from that person. Reunion Trees are view-only except for the tree managers.

  • To create a reunion tree, click on the + button under family trees and select or create a family group for the tree.

  • Once you create the tree, you will want to select a homeperson for the tree in “Manage Tree”. This will ensure that family members see the tree built out from the correct ancestor.

  • Add fellow tree managers by selecting the “Manage Tree” button.

  • Reunion Trees will be visible to all people in the family group that is assigned to the tree.

  • Only reunion tree managers can edit the reunion trees.
