Your Profile, Creating a Family Group, Making Your First Post

  1. Fill out your profile.

    1. Select the avatar at the top right of your screen.

    2. Choose Profile from the drop-down.

    3. Add a picture by clicking on the avatar

    4. Fill out personal information

    5. Save

  1. Create a Family Group

    (Understanding Family Groups)

    Family groups are groups that you can share media and communicate with and create reunions and family trees.

    1. Click on “Family Groups” from the left side menu under Family Connections and then click on the button “Create New Family Group”

    2. Enter basic group information

      1. Family group photo (can be changed at any time)

      2. Name of family group

      3. Description of the family group

      4. Click on Next to add invitees

    3. Add Invitees either from connections that are already on FamConnections or by clicking on the “Add from outside FamConnections” and entering their details.

    4. Click Create Group, and you will have your first family group.

  1. Create a post to share with your family

    1. Once you have created a family group, you can create your first post

    2. Select Family Feed from the left side menu

    3. Click in the text box or “tag someone, record audio, and add a photo/video they will all take you to the post entry popup.

    4. Enter a title and text for your post.

    5. Add photos or videos (optional)

      1. After you select your videos, you can hit the “Media Details" button to add locations and descriptions, record audio about the photo, tag someone, or add a date.

      2. You can choose each photo or video you’ve added to add details.

      3. Click “Save Media” to return to the post entry.

    6. Record Audio for your post

      1. Click on “Record Audio.”

      2. Click on the microphone icon and allow the app access to your microphone if asked.

      3. Click the pause button when you are done recording.

      4. Press the “Play Icon” to listen to what you’ve recorded.

    7. Tag someone in the post

      1. Click on Tag someone

      2. You can tag any of your connections, people who are invited to your family groups, or people in your family tree.

      3. If you want to tag all the media with that person, you can click the checkbox “Tag members on all media”.

      4. If you only want to tag people on specific photos, do that within media details.
